The design for Pathway to Spring was inspired by thoughts of spring flowers and trellises in the garden. The star flower can be all one value of colour, or made to look like pinwheels using two fabrics of different value. We learn to construct “non-mirror image” combination units which form the points of the star block.
The alternate block is a spin on a snowball block with half-square triangles and a coloured centre. The half square triangles are made using the “eight at once” technique, giving the design a trellis appearance. We can use up leftover fabric with a pieced border that is designed to forgiving even for the most novice quilter.
All units are made using the Deb Tucker method of making our units larger and squaring them up. The Springtime quilt comes together easily with the Studio 180 Tucker Trimmer I tool.
